The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in an ongoing legal matter before the court. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik delivered the ruling and fixed the bail at N100 million with one surety in the same amount.
The court directed that the surety must live in either Maitama or Asokoro area of Abuja. The judge also ordered the surety to submit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property to the court registry as part of the bail conditions.
In addition, the court stated that the surety must be a federal civil servant on Grade Level 17 or above. The surety is also expected to present proof of salary payments covering at least three months.
Justice Abdulmalik further ruled that the financial documents submitted by the surety must be verified through a letter issued by the surety’s bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.
The ruling came during proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday morning. The case involving the former Kaduna governor has continued to attract attention from political observers and supporters across the country.
Although the court approved his bail application, El-Rufai is expected to meet all the conditions laid down before he can enjoy the bail granted by the court.
