Tinubu Clinches APC Presidential Ticket
President Bola Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election after recording a sweeping victory in the party’s nationwide primary election held across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.


The result was announced on Sunday during the national collation exercise at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where outcomes from the direct primaries conducted in 8,809 wards were presented.


Tinubu secured a total of 10,999,967 votes to defeat his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, who finished with 16,504 votes. The outcome confirmed Tinubu’s strong position within the ruling party as preparations begin for the next presidential election.


The collation process was coordinated by the APC Presidential Primary Election Committee led by former Senate President Pius Anyim. Governors from 31 states, together with senior party officials serving as coordinators and collation officers, submitted results from their respective states.


Across the South-West region, Tinubu recorded wide margins. Lagos delivered 814,988 votes, while Ogun returned 322,485 votes. Ondo produced 181,996 votes, Oyo gave 142,754 votes, Osun contributed 100,888 votes and Ekiti returned 85,340 votes. Osifo recorded only small numbers in some states and failed to secure votes in others.


The President also maintained a strong showing in the North-West. Kaduna returned 618,914 votes, Kano produced 500,852 votes, while Katsina recorded 467,003 votes. Gombe delivered 450,517 votes, Kebbi returned 292,972 votes, Sokoto recorded 301,000 votes and Zamfara added 321,579 votes. Osifo’s results in the region remained limited.


In the North-Central, Tinubu continued his dominance with 310,990 votes in Kwara, 285,436 votes in Nasarawa, 241,720 votes in Plateau, 197,370 votes in Kogi, 175,487 votes in Niger and 374,787 votes in Benue.

The Federal Capital Territory delivered 36,103 votes to the President, while his opponent did not record any vote there.
The South-East and South-South regions also returned large numbers for Tinubu.

Imo delivered 582,960 votes, Enugu returned 383,382 votes, Ebonyi recorded 207,579 votes, Abia produced 161,005 votes and Anambra returned 43,034 votes.


In the South-South, Tinubu secured 407,646 votes in Delta, 389,197 votes in Akwa Ibom, 280,082 votes in Rivers and 227,192 votes in Bayelsa.


With the final figures confirmed, Tinubu officially secured the APC presidential ticket and will lead the party into the 2027 general election.
