President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially received the All Progressives Congress flag and Certificate of Return as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027–2031 election cycle during a ceremony held in Abuja.
The presentation took place on Sunday at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, where party leaders, elected officials and supporters gathered following the conclusion of the APC presidential primary process.
The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, presented the certificate and party flag to the President during the event. According to party officials, the presentation followed Tinubu’s emergence as the candidate after the nationwide direct primary election.
Tinubu appeared at the ceremony alongside First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, while members of the National Executive Committee, National Working Committee, National Assembly and APC governors attended the event.
Party officials described the certificate as confirmation of the support Tinubu received from members across the country during the primary exercise and expressed confidence ahead of the next general election.
Tinubu’s formal acceptance of the party’s nomination came after he recorded a landslide victory in the presidential primary conducted across 8,809 wards nationwide.
According to the final figures announced during collation, the President secured 10,999,967 votes to defeat his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, who polled 16,504 votes.
The results, drawn from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, officially confirmed Tinubu as the APC presidential flagbearer for the 2027 election and marked the beginning of the party’s preparations for the next electoral contest.
