The Bauchi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has endorsed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 presidential election, declaring support for his expected participation in the race.
The decision was announced during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Bauchi on Sunday, where party leaders gathered to discuss political direction and preparations ahead of the next general election.
According to party officials, the endorsement followed internal consultations among leaders and members who believe Atiku remains a strong political figure with the experience to address Nigeria’s current challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the party leadership, the Bauchi State Chairman of the ADC, Shu’aibu Dankama, said members reached the decision after reviewing the political situation and considering leadership options for the future.
The party leadership said its support for Atiku was based on confidence in his political experience and his ability to respond to issues affecting Nigerians, including economic pressure, insecurity, unemployment, and rising living costs.
The meeting also served as an opportunity to encourage members to remain focused as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections continue to gain pace across the country.
Party leaders urged members to maintain unity, stay committed to party activities, and avoid actions that could weaken internal cooperation.
The endorsement marks another political development in the growing conversations around the 2027 presidential election and may shape future alignments within the party as preparations continue nationwide.
