Kwankwaso Speaks On Yusuf, Ganduje
Former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has maintained that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and former governor Abdullahi Ganduje remain politicians who rose through his guidance despite growing political disagreements in Kano State.
Kwankwaso made the remarks on Wednesday while addressing supporters of the Kwankwasiyya movement at his residence on Miller Road in Kano. The former governor reacted to recent comments linked to Governor Yusuf concerning the use of the phrase “my boy” in describing political associates.
During the gathering, Kwankwaso joked about the controversy before later speaking directly on the political relationship between himself, Yusuf, and Ganduje. He told supporters that both men advanced in politics under his mentorship and political structure.
His comments drew loud reactions from members of the Kwankwasiyya movement, many of whom applauded him during the meeting.
Kwankwaso remains one of the most influential political figures in Kano State, having served in several positions over the years, including governor, minister, and senator. The Kwankwasiyya movement he founded continues to play a major role in the state’s political landscape.
Governor Yusuf is widely seen as Kwankwaso’s close ally and political successor. Ganduje, on the other hand, once served as Kwankwaso’s deputy during his administration before both men later became political rivals following disagreements over leadership and party control in Kano politics.
The political relationship between Kwankwaso and Ganduje has remained strained for years despite their long history together in government.
Ganduje had earlier admitted that he worked closely with Kwankwaso in the past but rejected claims that he was politically subordinate to him. In an earlier interview, the former governor explained that he became deputy governor after losing party primaries during their first administration together.
He also said their continued political alliance during their second tenure in office was based on Kwankwaso’s decision at the time.
The latest comments by Kwankwaso have added to ongoing political discussions in Kano ahead of future political activities in the state, especially as alliances and rivalries continue to shape the region’s political direction.
