The Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement has endorsed Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections.
The decision was announced after the party completed the selection of candidates for National Assembly and State Assembly seats in various constituencies across Osun State. Party officials said the process was conducted peacefully and produced candidates for several elective positions ahead of future elections.
Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Adewale Adebayo, disclosed that Makinde received the backing of party members in all 332 wards across the state. According to him, the outcome reflected the level of agreement among members and their readiness to work together toward common political goals.
The party said the exercise showed a united front among its members and demonstrated confidence in the leadership of those selected to represent it in future contests. It added that the process was completed without major disputes or disruptions.
Following the conclusion of the primaries, APM formally presented Makinde as its presidential flag bearer for the 2027 election. Party leaders described the endorsement as the next step in preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle.
The party also revealed plans to strengthen its ranks by attracting more members from other political parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party. According to the leadership, efforts are ongoing to bring new supporters and political structures into the APM ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
As part of its post-primary activities, the party said reconciliation measures have been activated to engage members who may be dissatisfied with the outcome of the exercise. The goal, according to party officials, is to maintain unity and ensure all members remain committed to the party’s objectives.
The APM further called on Nigerians seeking an alternative political platform to join the party, expressing confidence that it can play a larger role in future elections and strengthen opposition politics across the country.
