Obi took the party’s ticket during a gathering of leaders and delegates in Abuja where he spoke about the state of the country and his plans if elected president. He said Nigeria is facing rising insecurity, weak economic performance, and poor public services, but he believes these issues can be addressed through policy changes and better leadership choices.
He explained that insecurity has grown worse over recent years and said government action must focus on stronger coordination, intelligence use, and technology-based security methods to deal with threats and reduce violence across communities. He also linked insecurity to poverty and unemployment, saying both must be tackled together.
On health care, Obi spoke about the low level of health insurance coverage in Nigeria and poor health outcomes, especially for infants. He stated that his plan would expand access to health insurance so that more citizens are covered within a four-year period.
He also addressed electricity supply, noting that power generation in Nigeria remains low compared to population size and compared to other countries. He pledged to increase national electricity output to at least 10,000 megawatts within four years to support homes, businesses, and industries.
On jobs and the economy, he said many young people and small businesses face difficulties due to lack of support and weak economic conditions. He promised policies that would help small enterprises grow and reduce barriers to business activities.
Obi added that his administration would work on reducing corruption and improving how government funds are spent, while also focusing on national unity and better cooperation among different groups in the country.
