Sanwo-Olu Leads APC Lawmakers-Elect to Tinubu, Promises Grassroots Drive
On Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Lagos, Nigeria, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the Lagos State House of Assembly, along with party leaders and the deputy governor, on a visit to President Bola Tinubu at his residence, where they discussed party plans and preparations for the 2027 elections.

The visit included about 40 House of Assembly flag bearers who recently emerged under the APC platform. The group met with President Tinubu during a traditional Sallah courtesy visit and used the opportunity to seek guidance on leadership and political engagement.

Sanwo-Olu said the candidates used the meeting to show appreciation to the president and also received advice on how to focus on governance, remain loyal to the party, and stay connected with voters in their constituencies.

He explained that the president encouraged them to deliver on promises to the people and maintain close relationships with their communities. He also said the candidates committed themselves to stronger mobilisation efforts at the grassroots level ahead of the elections.

The governor noted that the aspirants assured Tinubu that they would return to their constituencies and work to strengthen public support for the party while promoting government programmes at both state and federal levels.

He added that they were advised to work together with other party members, including those who lost in the primaries, in order to reduce internal divisions and strengthen unity across the state.

Sanwo-Olu also said the APC would continue to support the candidates with campaign structures and information needed for outreach, stressing that the party would not rely only on its current popularity but would continue active engagement with voters.
