The PDP has announced plans to host a large gathering of party leaders and supporters in Ekiti State as campaigning enters its final phase before the governorship election. The event is expected to attract some of the party’s most prominent figures from across Nigeria.
According to information released by the Wole Oluyede Campaign Organisation, several senior party members are expected to attend the rally. Among them are Wike, Saraki, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Senator Abdul Ningi and a number of lawmakers from the National Assembly.
The party’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, is also expected at the event alongside National Secretary Sam Anyanwu, members of the National Working Committee and other key officials.
Former governors and experienced PDP leaders from different parts of the country are also expected to join the campaign rally. They include former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, former Information Minister Jerry Gana and former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi.
Members of the party’s Board of Trustees, led by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, are also expected to be present. Other invited leaders include Ibrahim Dankwambo, Jubril Wali, Ladi Adebutu, Olabode George and several influential figures within the party structure.
The rally is expected to bring together PDP chairmen from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, making it one of the party’s largest political gatherings in the state during the campaign season.
Ahead of the event, Oluyede and members of his campaign team have visited all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State, seeking support from residents and presenting their plans for the state.
During the campaign tour, the PDP candidate outlined several proposals covering power supply, security, infrastructure, economic development, healthcare and local government administration. He said his administration would work towards improving electricity supply through the establishment of an independent power project.
Oluyede also pledged to strengthen security by building police stations in strategic communities, especially areas facing threats from kidnapping and other criminal activities. He said road development would receive attention through the construction of routes designed to improve movement across the state.
The governorship candidate further promised to support businesses by creating cooperative societies that would provide access to funding for entrepreneurs and small business owners. He also said efforts would be made to reduce multiple taxes that often affect business growth.
In the public sector, Oluyede promised regular training programmes for civil servants to improve efficiency and service delivery. He also assured pensioners that outstanding pension and gratuity obligations would receive attention if elected.
The PDP candidate said healthcare would be expanded through investments in both rural and urban communities, while tourism development would be used to increase the state’s internally generated revenue.
He also promised a greater role for traditional rulers in governance and community security. On local government administration, Oluyede pledged to allow councils greater control over their affairs and resources, arguing that such a move would speed up development at the grassroots level.
With just days to the election, the PDP hopes the grand finale rally will strengthen support for its candidate and provide momentum as voters prepare to elect a new governor on June 20.
