The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Adenike Oladiji, announced the final result after collation from all local government areas. The outcome confirmed Oyebanji’s return to office for a second term as governor of Ekiti State.
According to the official figures released by INEC, the APC candidate polled 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challengers. The PDP candidate, Olumayokun Oluyede, secured 40,533 votes, while ADC candidate Dare Bejide received 12,872 votes.
Election records showed that Ekiti State had 988,251 registered voters. Out of this number, 384,940 voters were accredited for the exercise. A total of 382,109 votes were cast, while valid votes stood at 375,777 after sorting and counting.
The APC recorded victories across the state, posting strong numbers in several local government areas. In Ado Local Government Area, the party scored 38,026 votes against the PDP’s 3,817 and ADC’s 1,054. In Irepodun/Ifelodun, APC secured 29,278 votes, while Ekiti West delivered 28,258 votes for the ruling party.
Oyebanji also dominated in Ikole, Oye, Moba, Ido/Osi, Ekiti East and other councils, giving him a comfortable lead over his opponents throughout the state.
One notable outcome from the election was the result in Ikere Local Government Area, home of the PDP candidate. Despite contesting from the area, Oluyede was unable to secure victory in his local government. APC won the council with 11,116 votes, while the PDP obtained 9,872 votes and ADC polled 245 votes.
The election result marks another political milestone for Oyebanji, who now returns for a second term following a commanding performance at the polls. The final figures released by INEC showed that the APC maintained a clear lead from the beginning of the collation process until the completion of results from all 16 local government areas.
With the declaration, the Ekiti governor has officially secured another four-year mandate to continue leading the state after defeating candidates of the opposition parties by a wide margin.
