Omoyele Sowore arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday for the continuation of legal proceedings in the case involving allegations brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters was brought to the court from the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he has been in custody since the Federal High Court ordered his remand earlier this week.
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar had directed that Sowore remain in prison custody pending the hearing and determination of his application seeking a stay of execution of the court’s decision that revoked his bail and issued a bench warrant against him.
Following the ruling, operatives of the DSS took him into custody and later transferred him to prison authorities at the Kuje facility.
Upon his arrival at the court premises on Wednesday, Sowore appeared calm and was seen interacting with legal practitioners before the commencement of proceedings.
A number of supporters, activists and sympathisers also gathered at the court complex, awaiting developments in the case and the court’s next decision.
The DSS is prosecuting Sowore over allegations that he made defamatory and false claims against President Bola Tinubu through posts published on his X account and Facebook page.
The case has continued to attract public attention, with political figures, civil society groups and supporters closely monitoring the proceedings. The outcome of the ongoing legal battle is expected to shape the next stage of the case as both parties return to court for further hearings.
