President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday called on residents of Gomani, Dafa and Yangoji communities in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory to protect the newly inaugurated Gomani–Dafa–Yangoji Road after its completion. The President, who was represented at the event by Godswill Akpabio, said the road now belongs to the communities and should be preserved for future generations.
Tinubu urged community leaders, traditional rulers, farmers, traders and young people to safeguard the road by preventing encroachment along its corridor, keeping drainage channels free from waste and reporting anyone who attempts to damage the infrastructure.
He said the road should serve as a tool for economic growth by improving farming activities, supporting businesses and creating better opportunities for residents.
The President also said his administration remains committed to completing every public project it begins. According to him, government projects will no longer be abandoned, as his administration intends to provide funds, complete construction and maintain public infrastructure. He added that public money must produce visible benefits for Nigerians.
Tinubu said the road would make it easier for people in the affected communities to reach markets, schools and healthcare facilities. He added that improved transportation would reduce losses suffered by farmers after harvest and improve agricultural activities across the area.
Speaking at the event, Nyesom Wike said the project fulfilled the directive of the President that development should reach satellite communities and not remain limited to the city centre. He explained that the contract was awarded in November 2025 and completed in less than one year, describing the project as the result of commitment from both the government and the contractor.
Wike praised the construction company for completing the road within the agreed period and disclosed that the same contractor is expected to finish the Gbazango, also known as Arab Road, project in Kubwa ahead of its planned inauguration next month.
The minister also recalled that Tinubu instructed officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration to engage local communities before selecting projects. He said that approach ensured that the infrastructure delivered reflected the needs of residents instead of decisions made solely by government officials.
According to Wike, traditional rulers in Kwali had repeatedly requested the construction of the A2–Pai, Pai–Gomani and Gomani–Dafa–Yangoji road corridor. He said those requests had now been fulfilled through the completed project.
He also commended the traditional rulers for supporting the contractor throughout the construction period, saying their cooperation helped ensure the work was completed on schedule.
Wike later invited Akpabio, who represented the President, to officially inaugurate the road as part of the ongoing commissioning of projects executed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
