Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, met behind closed doors in Abuja on Friday as political consultations within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting took place at Amaechi’s residence in the Federal Capital Territory. It came barely a day after the former minister paid a visit to former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, in Abuja.
The gathering has attracted attention because both Malami and Amaechi are leading figures in the ADC, which has intensified preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
The party recently presented Amaechi as the running mate to its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. It has also submitted the names of both candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission nomination portal as part of the process for the next general election.
As of the time the meeting became public, neither Malami nor Amaechi had spoken about the purpose of their discussion. The ADC also had not issued any official statement explaining the agenda or the outcome of the talks.
The closed-door meeting is the latest in a series of consultations involving senior figures within the party as it continues to shape its strategy ahead of the 2027 polls.
