The United States has said it will closely observe Nigeria’s 2027 general election, with Congressman Riley Moore stating that the country will pay attention to both the outcome of the polls and the way the electoral process is handled.
Moore made this known during an interview with Noire TV on Saturday while responding to questions about Nigeria’s next general election and the role the United States could play.
During the interview, the American lawmaker said the United States is aware of the approaching election and will follow developments throughout the electoral process. According to him, attention will not only be placed on the final results but also on how the elections are organised and conducted.
Moore explained that the conduct of the election would be closely observed as events unfold across Nigeria. He noted that the process leading to the declaration of results would be of interest to the United States.
His comments come as political activities continue to gather pace ahead of the 2027 general election. Political parties have already begun preparations through consultations, internal meetings and primary elections, while debates over the electoral process have continued across the country.
