The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15 Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to improve power supply, education, healthcare and security if elected governor. He made the promise on Sunday during a meeting with leaders of the Osun Muslim Community in Osogbo while presenting his plans for the state ahead of the governorship poll.
Oyebamiji said his administration would focus on sectors that directly affect the lives of residents and support economic growth. According to him, experts working with his campaign have already prepared policy plans designed to improve the economy and raise the standard of living across the state.
He explained that the proposed programmes cover power generation, education, healthcare, agriculture and the welfare of workers. He said his decision to contest the governorship election was carefully considered and based on a desire to deliver practical solutions to the challenges facing Osun State.
The APC candidate also promised to strengthen security across the state, saying a safe environment is necessary for businesses to grow and for residents to carry out their daily activities without fear. He added that his administration would ensure fairness in the distribution of government projects and resources so that every community benefits equally.
Oyebamiji also expressed confidence in his chances at the August 15 election, saying he believes the support he has received will translate into victory at the polls.
Earlier at the meeting, the President of the Osun State Muslim Community, Mustapha Olawuyi, described Oyebamiji as someone who has maintained a long relationship with the Muslim community through humanitarian activities and support for religious causes. He also stated that the organisation remains non-partisan and is committed to promoting peace, development and the welfare of society.
Osun voters are expected to elect a new governor on August 15, 2026, with 14 candidates approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) participating in the election.
Oyebamiji is contesting on the APC platform, while the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, is seeking another term under the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The election is widely expected to be one of Nigeria’s closely watched off-cycle governorship contests.
