Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and former Senate President Bukola Saraki have congratulated the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Peter Obi, on his 65th birthday. The goodwill messages were shared on Sunday through separate posts on their verified X accounts as family, friends and supporters marked the former Anambra State governor’s birthday.
Tambuwal described Obi’s 65th birthday as a milestone that reflects many years of commitment to public service, discipline and dedication to Nigeria. He said the former governor has built a reputation for responsible leadership and has remained committed to the country’s growth through his involvement in governance and national affairs.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives also noted that Obi’s contributions to public discussions have encouraged many Nigerians, especially young people, to remain interested in democracy and the country’s future. He prayed that God would grant Obi good health, wisdom and strength to continue serving the nation.
Saraki also joined in celebrating Obi, describing him as a close friend and brother. He said he and his family were pleased to celebrate the former presidential candidate on the occasion of his birthday.
The former Senate President prayed for God’s continued protection, good health and long life for Obi, expressing hope that he would continue to contribute to the development of Nigeria.
Peter Obi served as Governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014 before contesting the 2023 presidential election as the Labour Party candidate. He later became the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 election.
Over the years, Obi has remained one of the country’s leading opposition figures. His supporters, widely known as the Obidient Movement, have continued to campaign for better governance, accountability and increased participation of young people in Nigeria’s democratic process.
