The All Progressives Congress (APC) has marked the first anniversary of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as its National Chairman, saying his leadership has strengthened the party, improved internal unity and placed it on a stronger path ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party made this known on Sunday in a statement issued by Yilwatda’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Yusuf Dingyadi.
According to the APC, Yilwatda assumed office during a difficult period for the ruling party but quickly introduced measures aimed at restoring confidence among members. The statement said he focused on reconciliation, wider consultations and reforms that improved cooperation among party leaders, the National Working Committee and stakeholders across the country.
The party said the renewed relationship among members has helped reduce internal disputes and improved harmony within its ranks. It added that efforts to reconcile aggrieved members have strengthened the APC at different levels across the country.
The statement also said the National Secretariat has recorded improvements in its daily operations under Yilwatda’s leadership. It noted that administrative activities have become more organised, while party structures at the ward, local government and state levels have been strengthened to better serve members.
The APC further stated that it has expanded its engagement with young people, women, persons with disabilities and grassroots supporters. According to the party, these efforts have helped increase participation and strengthen its presence nationwide.
The ruling party also linked its growing support to the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. It acknowledged that many Nigerians are facing economic difficulties but maintained that the government’s reforms are laying the foundation for long-term economic growth, improved infrastructure and national development.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the APC said the progress made within the past year has boosted its confidence and prepared the party to seek another mandate from Nigerians. It added that the party remains united and focused on building on its achievements.
The APC also called on Nigerians to continue supporting its programmes and policies. It said its doors remain open to citizens who share its vision of national development, democratic governance and a more inclusive society.
