The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned President Bola Tinubu over the safety of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, saying the Federal Government would be held responsible if any harm comes to him while in detention. The party issued the warning on Wednesday through its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the party, concerns have grown over El-Rufai’s situation, prompting the ADC to caution the Federal Government against any action that could threaten the former governor’s well-being. The party said it expects the authorities to ensure that El-Rufai remains safe throughout any legal or security process involving him.
The ADC said President Tinubu would bear responsibility if anything happens to the former Kaduna governor while he is in custody. The party also warned that any such development could have far-reaching political consequences.
The opposition party maintained that every Nigerian is entitled to protection under the law, regardless of political differences or affiliations. It urged the relevant authorities to handle the matter within the limits of the law and respect the rights of all individuals involved.
The party called for fairness, due process and accountability, adding that the situation should be managed in a way that preserves public confidence in the country’s democratic and legal institutions.
