The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The decision forms part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and is aimed at improving staff welfare alongside ongoing development projects across the territory.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, who said the promotion exercise reflected the administration’s commitment to rewarding hardworking officers while supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu. He explained that the promotion examinations for senior officers were held from July 1 to July 3, while junior staff wrote theirs on July 10.
Ezeh praised Wike for providing the support needed for the commission to carry out the exercise successfully. He added that the minister had also directed the commission to begin preparations for the 2026 promotion exercise without delay so that qualified officers would receive their promotions when due.
According to him, the administration wants civil servants to benefit from the progress being recorded in the FCT, just as major infrastructure projects are being completed across the territory. He said the plan is to ensure workers are not left out as the government marks the third anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration.
The commission chairman said the early commencement of the 2026 exercise would help prevent unnecessary delays in career progression and improve the morale of workers across the FCT Civil Service.
He also commended civil servants for maintaining peace and discipline throughout the 2025 promotion exercise. He urged officers who hope to participate in the next exercise to prepare ahead and remain committed to professionalism.
Ezeh further appreciated the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) for its cooperation, saying its support contributed to the smooth conduct of the promotion exercise.
He reminded prospective candidates that promotion in the FCT Civil Service is based on merit, competition and the availability of vacancies.
