The Action Alliance has given the Independent National Electoral Commission 48 hours to review and correct its published list of candidates for the 2027 general elections, claiming that several of its nominated candidates were left out.
The demand was made on Sunday in a statement issued by the party’s National Chairman, Chief Barrister Kenneth Udeze, who asked the electoral body to release a revised list.
According to the party, the omitted candidates were nominated by the National Executive Committee led by Udeze and should have appeared on the list released by INEC. The party maintained that the nominations followed all legal procedures and were completed within the period allowed by law.
Udeze said the Court of Appeal had already confirmed the legitimacy of his leadership, making the decisions and nominations made under his administration valid. He argued that leaving the party’s candidates out of the published list does not reflect the outcome of the party’s lawful nomination process.
The Action Alliance also stated that the omission goes against the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, which guides the submission and publication of candidates presented by registered political parties. It maintained that its candidates emerged from duly conducted primary elections and should therefore be recognised by the electoral commission.
The party called on INEC to immediately review the published list and include the affected candidates. It warned that failure to act within the 48-hour period would leave it with no option but to seek legal action to protect the rights of its candidates and the party.
The Action Alliance also appealed to civil society organisations, the media and other stakeholders to monitor the matter closely as events unfold. The party said it remains committed to pursuing all lawful means to ensure that its candidates are included in the final list for the 2027 general elections.
