Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke during a campaign rally for the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging voters to support the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the August 15 election.
Okpebholo spoke on Thursday at the APC rally attended by party supporters and leaders, including Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. During his address, the Edo governor repeatedly mocked Adeleke over his public dancing, claiming it reflected poorly on his style of leadership and governance.
He argued that Osun deserved a new direction and said the state needed leadership that would focus on development rather than entertainment. Okpebholo also linked Adeleke politically with former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, saying Osun voters should reject the current governor just as Edo voters rejected Obaseki’s political camp.
The governor also reacted to allegations that members of the Accord Party were distributing money to voters ahead of the governorship election. He advised supporters to collect any money offered to them but cast their votes for the APC candidate instead.
While campaigning for Oyebamiji, popularly known as “Ambo,” Okpebholo described him as the candidate capable of improving infrastructure and moving Osun State forward. He assured supporters that the APC would deliver better governance if elected.
The Edo governor also criticised the condition of roads in Osun, saying his experience while travelling through parts of the state reflected the need for better infrastructure. He maintained that residents deserved improved public facilities and better leadership.
Okpebholo ended his speech by urging eligible voters to turn out on election day and support the APC candidate. His comments come as political campaigns continue to gather momentum ahead of the Osun governorship election, with parties intensifying efforts to win support across the state.
