The National Democratic Congress (NDC) national leader, Seriake Dickson, has held a strategic meeting with the party’s chairmen from the North-West zone as the opposition party steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, held on Friday, focused on the party’s campaign plans and ways to secure victory for its candidates in the upcoming elections. Dickson described the discussions with the regional party leaders as productive and expressed confidence in the party’s prospects.
The former Bayelsa State governor said the North-West remains an important part of Nigeria’s political landscape and praised the party leaders in the zone for their commitment to the NDC’s campaign.
Dickson urged members, supporters and other stakeholders across the party to put aside personal interests and work together toward achieving the party’s objectives in the 2027 elections.
He also commended the North-West leadership under the direction of the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for its efforts and readiness to contribute to the party’s campaign.
According to Dickson, the meeting provided an opportunity for the national leadership and state chairmen in the zone to assess their level of preparedness and discuss the work required before campaigns officially gather momentum.
He said the party would continue to engage its structures across the country as it seeks to strengthen its organisation ahead of the election.
The meeting comes as political parties intensify their preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the NDC seeking to mobilise supporters and build a strong campaign structure across the six geopolitical zones.
The party has former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as its presidential candidate, while former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is its vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Dickson’s meeting with the North-West chairmen is part of the party’s wider efforts to coordinate its structures, improve cooperation among its leaders and prepare its candidates for the electoral contest.
