The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has gone on vacation after spending more than 30 days overseeing the commissioning of completed projects, launching new developments and inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja.
Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, disclosed this on Monday in a social media post.
According to Olayinka, the minister took time off after a busy period of activities across the Federal Capital Territory, where he inspected several projects and monitored their progress.
He said Wike also reviewed infrastructure projects scheduled for commissioning in December and January next year as part of efforts to keep track of their implementation.
The minister had spent several weeks moving around different parts of the FCT for project commissioning, groundbreaking ceremonies and inspections of ongoing works.
His activities have included the opening of completed projects, the commencement of new ones and visits to construction sites to assess the progress of work.
Wike, who served as governor of Rivers State before joining the Federal Executive Council, was appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023.
His current break comes after the prolonged schedule of official engagements linked to infrastructure development in the nation’s capital.
The former Rivers governor is expected to return to his duties after the vacation and continue overseeing projects under the FCT administration.
