The presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, on Monday met with the party’s governorship candidates in Abuja as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
The meeting focused on the party’s level of preparedness for the elections and ways to strengthen its campaign activities across the states. The discussions also centred on better coordination among the party’s candidates and structures as the NDC works towards securing victories in the 2027 elections.
Those present included the NDC governorship candidates for Bauchi, Ibrahim Kashim; Sokoto, Shamsu Aliyu; and Borno, Sunusi Kashim Ibrahim.
The meeting also had in attendance former federal lawmaker and NDC leader Buba Galadima, alongside the party’s state chairmen in Kebbi and Sokoto, Alhaji Mustapha Umar and Alhaji Bello Sani Yabo.
The gathering formed part of the party’s wider efforts to bring its national and state-level leaders together ahead of the 2027 polls.
The NDC leadership is expected to continue consultations with its candidates and other party officials as it develops its campaign plans and prepares for the electoral contest.
The meeting comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with candidates and party leaders working to strengthen their structures ahead of the polls.
