The African Action Congress, AAC, presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke does not have full control of the affairs of the state.
Sowore made the allegation on Thursday during an appearance on News Central Television’s breakfast programme, where he also questioned the performance of the Adeleke administration.
The AAC candidate claimed that members of Adeleke’s family were involved in running the state, alleging that the governor’s sister and elder brother, Adedeji Adeleke, were influential in the administration.
Adedeji Adeleke is the father of Nigerian music star Davido.
Sowore’s comments came shortly before the Osun State governorship election, as political parties and their candidates intensify their campaigns and criticism of the incumbent administration.
The former presidential candidate also disputed some of the achievements being credited to Adeleke’s government. He said his assessment of the governor’s leadership was shaped partly by Adeleke’s recent appearance at an Arise Television town hall programme.
Sowore said he was disappointed by what he saw during the governor’s appearance and used the opportunity to question the level of control Adeleke exercises over his administration.
The allegations are part of the wider political exchanges surrounding the Osun governorship election, with opposition figures challenging the record of the incumbent government while supporters of the administration continue to defend its performance.
Sowore did not provide specific evidence in the report to support his claim that Adeleke’s relatives are running the state. The allegation remains his personal assessment of the governor’s administration.
