2027: Tinubu Dragged Before EU Commission Over Alleged Certificate Forgery

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress and lawyer, Kalu Kalu, has petitioned the European Union Commission over allegations involving President Bola Tinubu’s academic credentials and Nigeria’s constitutional order.

Kalu submitted the petition on Friday in Brussels, where he accused the President of allegedly presenting false academic documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the 2027 general election.

The ADC chieftain claimed that Tinubu failed to provide details of his primary and secondary education in documents submitted to INEC. He argued that the alleged omission was contrary to provisions of the 1999 Constitution, particularly Section 137.

Kalu further alleged that the documents submitted by the President contained false information and questioned his eligibility to contest the 2027 presidential election.

While presenting the petition, the lawyer also accused the Tinubu administration of undermining Nigeria’s constitutional system. He alleged that the President had used his control of government institutions to avoid accountability over the issues raised in the petition.

The petition was submitted to the European Union Commission as Kalu sought the attention of European authorities to what he described as constitutional violations in Nigeria.

He maintained that the alleged presentation of false certificates to INEC should have consequences under Nigerian law and could affect a candidate’s qualification to contest a presidential election.

The development comes as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition parties and their members increasingly challenging the policies and actions of the Federal Government.

Kalu’s petition is based on allegations against the President, and the claims have not been established by a court in the report. Tinubu and his representatives were also not quoted as responding to the allegations in the report.

The lawyer also released a video showing him at the European Union Commission while submitting the petition.
