Osun Should Be Better, FG Sends Enough Money – Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said Osun State should be more developed, given the federal allocations available to the state.

Akpabio made the statement on Friday in Osogbo while campaigning for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s election.

He urged Oyebamiji to ensure that public funds are properly managed and used to improve the lives of residents if he wins the governorship poll.

The Senate President said Osun had access to enough federal funds to carry out meaningful projects and improve its infrastructure. He expressed concern over the condition of some roads in the state, particularly the route connecting Ibadan and Osogbo.

Akpabio called on Oyebamiji to begin work on development projects immediately if elected and sworn in as governor.
He said the people of Osun deserved to see clear benefits from government and should experience improvements in areas such as roads, infrastructure and other public services.

The Senate President also urged the APC candidate to work closely with the Federal Government to attract more development to the state.

According to Akpabio, Oyebamiji would have a responsibility to ensure that funds meant for Osun were spent for the benefit of its residents rather than being diverted to other purposes.

He further called on the candidate to make development a major focus of his administration and ensure that government activities produce visible results across the state.

Akpabio’s comments came as political parties intensified their campaigns ahead of the Osun governorship election scheduled for Saturday.

Oyebamiji is challenging the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke and other candidates in the closely watched election.

The Senate President expressed confidence in the APC candidate and urged residents to support his bid, promising that cooperation between the state and Federal Government would help speed up development in Osun.
