Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday met with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja, shortly after visiting President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
The meeting formed part of Adeleke’s engagements in the nation’s capital following his victory in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
A photograph from the meeting showed Adeleke and Wike together while holding Adeleke’s certificate of return. The image was shared on social media by Lere Olayinka, Wike’s media aide.
Adeleke’s visit to Wike came only a few hours after his meeting with Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. The Osun governor had arrived at the Villa in the company of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and some officials from the state.
Among the officials who accompanied him were members of his campaign team and the Osun State Chief of Staff.
During his meeting with Tinubu, Adeleke presented his certificate of return and thanked the President for the conduct of the election. He also praised the Federal Government for allowing the electoral process to proceed without what he considered undue interference.
Adeleke, who contested the election under the Accord Party, emerged victorious after securing 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes.
The governor recorded victories in 19 of the 30 local government areas in the state.
Following his victory, Adeleke has continued to meet political leaders and key figures as he begins preparations for another term in office.
His meeting with Wike adds to the series of political consultations he has held in Abuja since the election. The discussions also come at a time when political activities are increasing ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adeleke’s engagements with Tinubu and Wike have attracted attention because of the political relationships involved, particularly as different political actors continue to position themselves ahead of the next general elections.
