Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged that the state will deliver a large number of votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing his administration’s projects and empowerment programmes as key drivers of support.
Aiyedatiwa made the commitment on Friday in Akure when he received leaders of the City Boy Movement, a group campaigning for Tinubu’s re-election, at the Governor’s Office.
The delegation, led by the group’s state coordinators, Oluwafemi Ayejusunle and Tomide Akinribido, visited the governor to present its activities and grassroots mobilisation plans ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group also requested the support and cooperation of the Ondo State Government as it expands its campaign activities across the state.
Aiyedatiwa welcomed the group’s efforts and praised its support for the All Progressives Congress and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
The governor said his administration had already declared its support for Tinubu’s return to office in 2027 through its Ondo For Tinubu 2027 campaign position.
He linked the expected support for the President to projects being carried out by his administration in different parts of the state. According to him, developments in roads, healthcare, education, employment and youth empowerment would help strengthen support for Tinubu.
Aiyedatiwa said the government’s programmes were improving the lives of residents and would give voters reasons to support the President during the next election.
He also connected the jobs created by his administration and ongoing infrastructure projects to the expected votes for Tinubu, saying the impact of government policies at the state level would influence voters’ decisions in 2027.
The governor assured the City Boy Movement and other groups supporting Tinubu that his administration would work with them and provide the necessary backing for their mobilisation activities.
He said all pro-Tinubu groups operating in Ondo State would be included in the political activities leading to the presidential election.
Earlier, Ayejusunle thanked the governor for his leadership and for maintaining a close working relationship with the Tinubu administration.
He said the City Boy Movement would increase its grassroots mobilisation and public awareness campaigns across Ondo State as it seeks to build stronger support for Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, Secretary to the State Government Taiwo Fasoranti, and Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing Abiola Olawoye.
