Veteran Nollywood Actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ is dead

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 65, with his death announced by his daughter, Kira Taiwo, on Sunday evening.

Kira disclosed the development during a live session on her Instagram page, bringing news of the death of the respected Yoruba film actor to fans, colleagues and members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The actor’s death came only a few days after his daughter revealed that he had been battling stage four cancer. The nature of his illness had drawn concern from fans and colleagues, with efforts reportedly made to help him access medical care.

Taiwo Hassan was one of the well-known faces in Yoruba-language Nollywood and spent several years building a career in the Nigerian film industry. He became popular for his performances in numerous Yoruba movies and was recognised for his contribution to the growth of the industry.
