The Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, has warned residents who may oppose the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Shekwolo made the remarks in a video circulating on social media, where he stated that residents who do not support the APC should not expect to remain in the area council.
The council chairman said his position was based on the projects and interventions carried out in Kuje under President Bola Tinubu and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
He argued that the projects recorded in the area should encourage residents to support the APC and Tinubu’s bid to remain in office after the 2027 presidential election.
Shekwolo further stated that he would not accept any attempt by residents to campaign or work against the ruling party within the area council.
He maintained that people living in Kuje should either support the APC or be prepared to leave the area council.
The chairman also linked his position to the development efforts of the federal government and the FCT administration, saying he expected residents to back the political leadership responsible for the projects.
His remarks have drawn attention as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with politicians and political groups already mobilising supporters across the country.
The statement has also raised questions about the freedom of residents to support political parties of their choice during elections.
The 2027 general elections are expected to bring increased political activity across the Federal Capital Territory, with the APC and opposition parties preparing to mobilise voters ahead of the polls.
