Former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Akintola Olajide, has died.
Olajide, who served as SSG during the administration of former Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
His death was confirmed by his family in a statement released to journalists on Wednesday.
The family described Olajide as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin who lived a fulfilling life and died after returning to his Creator.
The family expressed gratitude to Allah for his life and prayed for strength and comfort for relatives, friends and others who were close to him.
Olajide was a key government official during the administration of Ajimobi, who served as governor of Oyo State before leaving office in 2019.
Following the announcement of his death, the family also released details of his Janazah prayer.
The Islamic funeral prayer is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 11:00am at the MAN Centre in Oke Ado, Ibadan, where family members, friends, associates and other mourners are expected to gather.
The family appealed for prayers and support as they come to terms with the loss of the former government secretary.
Olajide’s death has brought mourning to political and social circles in Oyo State, particularly among people who worked with him during his years in public service.
