Former Bayelsa State Governor and national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Seriake Dickson, met with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, in Abuja on Thursday.
The meeting was part of ongoing consultations among the party’s leaders as they work towards the 2027 general elections.
Dickson disclosed the meeting through a post on his verified X account, saying the discussions focused on matters affecting the party and the country.
The former governor said the leaders also reviewed outstanding issues and worked towards reaching decisions ahead of the planned unveiling of the NDC Campaign Council for the 2027 elections.
The meeting was attended by Obi, Kwankwaso, the party’s National Chairman and other senior members of the organisation.
It was the second meeting involving the party leaders within a short period, with Dickson indicating that the discussions were being held regularly as preparations for the election gather pace.
The former Bayelsa governor called on party leaders, aspirants and members to remain united and put aside their differences in order to work together for the success of the party’s candidates.
He urged stakeholders across the party to support candidates at every level of the 2027 elections and ensure that the party maintains a coordinated campaign structure from the presidential contest down to other elective positions.
The meeting comes at a time when political parties and groups are intensifying consultations and forming alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The NDC leadership is expected to continue its internal discussions as it prepares to unveil its campaign council and begin wider mobilisation for the election.
The party has selected Obi as its presidential candidate, with Kwankwaso serving as his running mate, placing both politicians at the centre of the party’s preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.
