The Renewed Hope Ambassadors will work with the newly established Presidential Campaign Council to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, Imo State Governor and Director-General of the group, Hope Uzodimma, has said.
The governor explained that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors remained active and would continue to operate alongside the campaign council. He said the organisation was created by Tinubu to take the achievements of his administration to Nigerians and explain the government’s policies and programmes.
According to Uzodimma, the formation of the campaign council was part of the normal political process ahead of an election and did not affect the existence or responsibilities of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
He said the group would continue its activities across the country and retain its structures in the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and the six geopolitical zones.
Uzodimma said the meeting was called after reports emerged that some people were attempting to convince members in certain states that the organisation would be disbanded. He said the clarification was necessary to prevent confusion among state coordinators and other members.
The governor also disclosed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors had started a media tour across the six geopolitical zones to explain the policies and achievements of the Tinubu administration.
He said the organisation would work with the Presidential Campaign Council because both structures were focused on the same objective of securing victory for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Uzodimma, who was recently appointed Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council, said there was no disagreement between the two groups. He explained that while the campaign council was created mainly for election activities, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would continue beyond the election.
As part of preparations for the election, Uzodimma announced that the group would organise a summit in the third week of September in collaboration with the Progressive Governors Forum and local government chairmen.
The summit is expected to bring together elected and appointed political office holders from across the country. President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are expected to address participants at the gathering.
The governor called on members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to remain focused on mobilising voters and supporting the President’s re-election campaign. He said the group would work to attract votes from every part of the country.
Speaking for the national coordinators, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim thanked Uzodimma for organising the meeting, saying the clarification had helped address concerns among members.
Anyim said members remained committed to supporting Tinubu and would continue working for the success of his campaign regardless of how the political structures were organised.
The National Director of Logistics and Support of the group, Shehu Usman, also welcomed the clarification. He said members in different states had been seeking information about their role following the creation of the Presidential Campaign Council.
Usman said the meeting had provided the needed direction and expressed the group’s readiness to work with the campaign council.
Uzodimma was joined at the meeting by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the Director-General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and other officials.
