The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed the list of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidates who will contest the 2027 National Assembly election in Kwara State.
The electoral commission released the confirmed list covering the three senatorial districts and six federal constituencies in the state as preparations for the 2027 general election continue.
For the Senate, Senator Saliu Mustapha is listed as the PDP candidate for Kwara Central Senatorial District, while Saheed Popoola will contest for Kwara South. Kolo Baba Jiya is the party’s candidate for Kwara North.
The PDP also has candidates for the six House of Representatives constituencies in the state.
Prof. Fatai Ayinde Aremu will contest for the Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency, while Saka Yusuf Eletu is listed for the Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency.
Mashood Bakare will represent the party in the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency.
For the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, the PDP candidate is Gbenga Joseph Obanla.
Shaaba Usman Kawu will contest the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency, while Ahmed Abubakar Sadiq is the party’s candidate for the Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency.
The release of the candidates’ names by INEC formally places the listed aspirants among those cleared to participate in the 2027 National Assembly election in Kwara State.
The development comes as political parties across the country prepare for campaigns and other activities ahead of the general elections.
The PDP candidates are expected to begin mobilising supporters across their respective senatorial districts and federal constituencies as the election draws closer.
