Lagos State lawmaker and Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot has apologised again to the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his actions during the last All Progressives Congress primary election.
Elliot made the fresh apology during a meeting with Gbajabiamila and other APC leaders in Lagos, where he sought to settle differences and restore his relationship with the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The lawmaker, who represents Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, reportedly went down on his knees and prostrated before Gbajabiamila as he appealed for forgiveness.
Elliot expressed regret over his conduct during the party primary and indicated that he may have acted based on wrong advice or information at the time.
He also promised to rebuild his relationship with the party leadership and remain loyal to the political structure.
Gbajabiamila later asked the lawmaker to stand up after accepting the apology.
The latest development is not the first time Elliot has apologised to the former Speaker over the political disagreement.
The actor had previously addressed the matter during an appearance on TVC’s Your View, where he admitted that his political activities may have caused offence to Gbajabiamila, whom he regards as a political mentor.
Elliot had also maintained that any disagreement between them was not deliberate and said he remained committed to working for the unity of the APC and the interests of his constituents.
The renewed apology comes against the background of the political crisis that affected the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The dispute created tension within the Lagos chapter of the APC, with senior party figures becoming involved in efforts to resolve disagreements over the leadership of the Assembly.
Gbajabiamila had previously revealed that he came under pressure at the Presidency following intelligence reports linking Elliot to political moves connected to the Assembly speakership controversy.
The former Speaker said President Tinubu had questioned him over the reports, while Elliot denied involvement in the alleged moves.
The Assembly crisis was later brought under control after interventions from senior members of the party.
Elliot’s latest gesture is seen as an attempt to put the disagreement behind him and strengthen his relationship with the APC leadership as political activities continue to build ahead of the 2027 general elections.
