The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate its activities and mobilise support for the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The campaign council was announced on Thursday and includes coordinators from the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as representatives for the 36 states of the federation.
The Director-General of the movement, John Ughulu, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while the National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, is also part of the campaign leadership.
The newly formed structure has officials responsible for several areas, including grassroots mobilisation, women affairs, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, and administration.
The development is part of the movement’s preparations to build a nationwide campaign structure for the 2027 presidential election and take its message to voters across the country.
In a message to the newly appointed members, Sani charged them with taking the programmes and plans of Obi and Kwankwaso to communities across the country.
She described the appointments as a responsibility that would require commitment, leadership, sacrifice and service, while urging members to work together towards the objectives of the movement.
Sani said the campaign council would be expected to reach Nigerians beyond major cities by taking its activities to states, local government areas, wards and communities.
She also said the movement was focused on a broader national agenda rather than the personal interests of individuals involved in it.
According to her, members of the campaign council would need discipline, loyalty, humility and courage as they carry out their responsibilities across the country.
She also urged them to combine grassroots mobilisation with effective communication and strategic planning as the campaign progresses.
Sani said the immediate task before the council was to ensure that the message of the movement reached voters across the country and that Nigerians were properly engaged ahead of the election.
Among those appointed as zonal coordinators are Suleiman Abubapkar for the North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West, Amadu Gwambe for the North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.
The movement also named coordinators for all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as part of its nationwide campaign structure.
Other members include Rev. Mike Agbon as Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria, Sabo Gashua as Director of Grassroots Mobilisation, Glory Adayi as Director of Women Affairs and Kabir Yahaya as Director of Contact and Engagement.
Abdumumini Tijjani was appointed Director of Mobilisation, while Yusuf Mani will oversee Special Duties. Peace Daful will serve as Director of Procurement, Prof Charles Nwekeaku as Director of South Eastern Town Hall and Sunmisola Adebayo as Director of Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere was named Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri will head Strategy and Planning, while Richard Enemona, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police, was appointed Director of Security and Intelligence.
Aisha Abdulrahaman was also appointed Director of Administration.
The development follows the movement’s earlier decision to maintain its independent political structure instead of merging with another political organisation ahead of the 2027 elections. The group also retained Ughulu as its founder and Director-General.
The unveiling of the campaign council comes shortly after the movement reacted to the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State.
The movement had called for an impartial investigation into the incident and said its security personnel exercised restraint during the situation to prevent it from developing into violence.
With the campaign council now in place, the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement is expected to intensify its mobilisation and organisational activities across the country as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
