Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has removed the Commissioner for Works, Stanley Lebechi Mbam, from office with immediate effect.
The governor also directed Mbam to return all government property in his possession, including his official vehicle, to the Secretary to the State Government.
He was further instructed to hand over his duties to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works following his removal from office.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.
The statement did not give a specific reason for the commissioner’s removal.
Governor Nwifuru, however, assured residents that his administration would continue to focus on effective governance and the improvement of public infrastructure across the state.
The governor’s directive takes immediate effect, with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works expected to take over the responsibilities previously handled by Mbam.
The removal comes as the state government continues to pursue its plans for infrastructure development and the delivery of public services to residents.
