Notorious Bandit Commander Samagi Captured in Katsina

The Katsina State Community Watch Corps has reportedly arrested Samagi, a suspected senior commander in the bandit group led by notorious kingpin Kachalla Maha in Katsina State.

Samagi was reportedly captured alongside another suspected member of the group during an operation by the community security outfit in the state.

The gang linked to Samagi has been accused of carrying out several violent attacks in the Matazu area of Katsina State, where bandit activities have continued to cause fear and insecurity among residents.

The group has also been linked to the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information.

The reported arrest comes only a few days after Katsina vigilantes apprehended two people suspected of supplying ammunition to Kachalla Maha’s network.

The latest development is part of ongoing efforts by local security groups to disrupt bandit networks operating across Katsina State.

Bandit attacks have remained a major security concern in parts of Nigeria’s North-West, with several communities facing incidents involving killings, kidnappings and other forms of violence.

The reported capture of Samagi and his associate could provide security operatives with further information about the activities and structure of the bandit network operating in the affected areas.
