Senior Political Assistant to African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarewaju, on Saturday criticised Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate Peter Obi after a video showed him rushing to board a flight at an undisclosed airport.
Olarewaju reacted to the video shared on X by a user identified as @BolanleCole, which showed Obi running through the airport while heading towards his flight. The user described the former Anambra State governor’s appearance in the video as another example of his content creation activities.
The post attracted Olarewaju’s attention, prompting the Atiku aide to comment on Obi’s conduct in the video. He argued that the scene did not portray the kind of conduct he associated with a presidential candidate.
According to Olarewaju, Obi’s decision to run to catch the flight suggested that he had not managed his time properly. He also said the incident did not present a positive image of Obi.
The criticism comes as Obi continues his political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election, where he is expected to contest under the NDC platform.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, was the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election before moving to the NDC, while Atiku is expected to contest the 2027 election under the ADC.
The airport video has since generated reactions on social media, with users offering different views about Obi’s decision to rush for his flight and the political aide’s response to the incident.
