The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has extended its 2027 campaign mobilisation to Nigerians in Chicago, United States, as the party seeks support for President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the general elections.
The campaign engagement took place in Chicago following the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Diaspora, Chicago chapter, bringing together Nigerians living in the US, APC supporters and members of the Nigerian community.
The event was part of the activities of the Lagos APC PBAT-KOH Campaign Council’s Special Duties Committee on Diaspora, according to a statement issued by the committee’s Publicity Secretary, Ayodele Tinubu.
Gbolahan Gbadamosi, Director of the Lagos APC PBAT-KOH Special Duties Committee on Diaspora, led the campaign engagement and spoke to participants about the 2027 elections and the role Nigerians abroad could play through their families, communities and networks in Nigeria.
Gbadamosi presented the Tinubu administration’s policies and programmes in areas such as the economy, education and infrastructure, while also pointing to government efforts in national security and development.
He called for continued support for the administration’s reform programme and urged diaspora Nigerians to remain involved in political discussions and pass information about government policies to their contacts in Nigeria.
On Lagos State, Gbadamosi also called for continuity in the state’s development plans and presented Hamzat’s experience in Lagos governance as part of the campaign’s case for the APC governorship candidate.
The Chairman of the APC United Kingdom chapter, Tunde Doherty, was also present at the Chicago event alongside other members of the Nigerian community and APC supporters.
Doherty encouraged Nigerians to stay engaged with the electoral process and support the APC’s candidates while helping to communicate the party’s programmes and plans to Nigerians at home and abroad.
The Chicago engagement forms part of the wider diaspora mobilisation programme of the Lagos APC campaign council as political activities increase ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Lagos APC had earlier inaugurated its 2027 campaign council, which includes a dedicated structure for diaspora engagement. The campaign council is working on mobilisation activities for Tinubu at the presidential level and Hamzat in the Lagos governorship contest.
The latest outreach shows the party’s effort to maintain political engagement with Nigerians living outside the country and encourage them to communicate with voters and communities in Nigeria as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
