The Oyo State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has said the party is prepared to challenge Governor Seyi Makinde’s Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in the 2027 elections and is working to secure victories across the state.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, made the statement on Monday in Ibadan while addressing members of the party.
The APC candidate said the party had put structures in place to compete in the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state House of Assembly elections scheduled for 2027.
He also called on APC members to increase their mobilisation efforts at the grassroots and strengthen the party’s presence across communities in Oyo State.
Alli said winning the elections would require members to engage directly with voters, build stronger party structures and maintain regular contact with people across the state.
He added that the party’s focus should be on strengthening the APC as an organisation rather than concentrating on individual politicians.
The senator also urged party members to work together towards the 2027 elections, saying the APC would need a coordinated effort at the local level to achieve its electoral goals.
The contest in Oyo State is expected to feature the APC against Makinde’s APM, with political parties already beginning preparations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
