Gana made this known in Minna on Saturday after the PDP Niger State Congress, where he told journalists that Nigerians were eager to see Jonathan return to power. He explained that the country had experienced two other leaders after Jonathan’s exit in 2015 and that many citizens now wanted him back in Aso Rock. According to him, Nigerians had compared the administrations and were ready to rally behind Jonathan in the next election.

He affirmed that Jonathan would be on the ballot as the PDP candidate and urged party members and Nigerians to prepare to vote for his return. Gana described the PDP as a party built on democratic values and one that allowed citizens to freely select their leaders. He also said the party had remained strong because of its focus on the people.

Addressing concerns about internal disputes, Gana dismissed claims of division. He explained that the founding members had already met in Abuja and resolved past disagreements, leaving the party united and prepared for the 2027 elections.

During the congress, Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Halidu was elected as the new chairman of the party in Niger State with 1,289 votes, defeating Zonal Chairman Alhaji Yahaya Abdullahi (Ability), who secured 1,269 votes. Alhaji Khadi Kuta was returned unopposed as Secretary, while Mrs. Salome Ndakosu became the Woman Leader with 1,373 votes against Ramotu Jibrin’s 590.

In his acceptance speech, Halidu called on members to work together for the return of what he described as a people-oriented government in 2027.
