The Kwara State government has advised residents in several local government areas to stay alert and limit movement as security forces continue heavy operations against kidnappers in border communities.
The warning was issued on Wednesday in Ilorin after security operatives intensified raids on suspected hideouts in parts of Kogi and Kwara. Areas most affected include Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun local government areas, where fleeing suspects are believed to be moving through forests and nearby towns.
According to the government, the caution is necessary to ensure that innocent people are not caught up in the crossfire as the manhunt for the criminals goes on. Residents were told to only move about when necessary and remain vigilant until the situation stabilises.
The authorities acknowledged the inconvenience the restriction could cause but stressed that it was a temporary measure aimed at safeguarding lives.
The state also praised the security agencies for their ongoing efforts and called on them to continue until the kidnappers are completely cleared from the forests.
