Strike Over: Dangote Refinery to Reinstate Sacked Workers After PENGASSAN Deal
The standoff in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry has eased as the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) suspended its strike following an agreement with Dangote Refinery to reinstate workers earlier dismissed for joining the union.

The resolution came after two days of talks held on Monday and Tuesday in Abuja between the Federal Government, Dangote Refinery, and PENGASSAN officials.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, who led the discussions, reminded both sides of the need to uphold the rights of workers under Nigerian law.

At the end of the talks, it was agreed that the refinery would begin the process of recalling the affected workers across different arms of the Dangote Group without loss of pay. It was also resolved that no staff would be victimised for their involvement in the dispute.
PENGASSAN confirmed that it would suspend its strike action and direct members to return to duty.The strike began on Sunday after PENGASSAN instructed members to cut gas and crude supply to the refinery, accusing the management of dismissing staff for associating with the union.
The recall agreement now paves the way for operations at the refinery to continue without further disruption.
