The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has lost its Deputy Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu, who suddenly slumped and died on Wednesday morning.

Asuzu, a native of Umuma Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area, was widely known for his work as a politician, writer, and cultural advocate. Before his death, he was pursuing a doctorate after earning degrees in Theology and Political Science.

He was also the convener of Ikoro Ndigbo and the founder of Igbo Intelligentsia Renaissance, a platform created to promote cultural renewal and intellectual dialogue. Beyond politics, he was an entrepreneur, theologian, and social thinker who contributed to many spheres of society.

Within the ADC, he played an active role, founding and leading the group I Stand With ADC, which mobilised support for the party and encouraged wider participation in democracy. He was once a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and built a reputation as a visiting lecturer, analyst, and prolific writer.
The ADC described his death as a heavy blow to both the party and the larger society, noting his influence as a family man, mentor, and committed leader. He is survived by his wife and children.
Burial arrangements will be made public by the family at a later date.
