Tragedy in Abuja: Arise TV Anchor Somtochukwu Dies After Robbery Escape Attempt

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the death of Arise TV anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, who lost her life after jumping from the third floor of her apartment during a robbery attack in Katampe, Abuja.

The incident happened on Monday when a group of armed men invaded Unique Apartments, a three-storey twin building with 18 flats located in the Gishiri axis under Mabushi Division. According to the police, two private security guards were on duty when the robbers struck.

One of the guards was shot while trying to resist the attackers.In the confusion that followed, Maduagwu, who lived on the top floor, leapt from the building in an attempt to escape. She was found lying unconscious on the ground by responding police officers and was rushed to Maitama General Hospital.

Doctors tried to revive her, but she was later confirmed dead.The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Ajao Adewale, described the case as tragic and assured that a dedicated investigation team, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigations, has been deployed to hunt down the suspects.

He added that tactical units are working with available leads to ensure the attackers are arrested and prosecuted.The police command extended condolences to Maduagwu’s family, colleagues at Arise TV, and Nigerians saddened by her death.
