Five Die as Dangote Truck Collides with Tricycle in Ogun

A tragic road accident claimed the lives of five people on Friday night at the Alapoka section of the Papalanto–Ilaro Road in Ogun State.

The incident involved a Dangote Cement truck and a commercial tricycle.The crash occurred around 8:25 p.m. when the truck reportedly experienced brake failure, colliding with an unregistered tricycle. The impact crushed the tricycle beneath the truck, killing all five occupants instantly.

The truck involved bore the registration number GRZ 767 XA.Authorities from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) confirmed the fatal collision. Emergency response teams, led by the Acting TRACE Head and the Ilaro Divisional Commander, arrived at the scene to carry out rescue operations.

The situation escalated as angry residents confronted the rescue team, prompting deployment of security personnel, including members of the Amotekun Corps, to maintain order.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) later recovered the victims’ bodies and transported them to a morgue.Investigations into the crash are ongoing, with officials seeking to determine the exact cause of the truck’s brake failure and ensure accountability.
