Nnaji Says Resignation Not Admission of Guilt Amid Forgery Allegations

Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has said his resignation from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet is not an admission of wrongdoing but a decision made out of respect for due process.

Nnaji stepped down from his position on Monday, following allegations of certificate forgery against him.

He was accused of not completing his university education and of presenting forged academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates to the presidency, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Department of State Services, and the Senate.

In a statement released after his resignation, the Enugu-born politician said his decision came after careful reflection and consultations with family members and associates.

He explained that he chose to resign to prevent ongoing controversy from affecting the work of the ministry and the implementation of the administration’s policies.The former minister said the allegations against him were politically motivated and based on false claims meant to damage his reputation.

He maintained that his record of public service and commitment to the nation remained clear, describing the accusations as a distraction to governance.

Nnaji noted that his resignation was a personal decision aimed at allowing the judicial process to take its course without interference. He expressed confidence that the truth would eventually be established and that his name would be cleared.

He added that he remained committed to contributing to national development and upholding the values of honesty and service to the country.
