A former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Agboola Ayoola, also known as Alleluyah, has officially withdrawn from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.
His resignation, dated Friday, October 10, 2025, marked the end of his long-standing membership and leadership role in the party.Ayoola, who hails from Itesiwaju Local Government Area, made his decision known through a formal letter sent to the party.
He explained that his departure was connected to his future political plans and directions. The former lawmaker had deliberately stayed away from recent PDP congresses at both local and state levels as part of this move.
During his political career, Ayoola served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under former governors Rashidi Ladoja and the late Adebayo Alao-Akala between 2003 and 2011. He later represented Oyo North Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015 and was the only PDP senator elected from the South-West during that period.
In his letter, Ayoola expressed gratitude to the PDP for giving him opportunities to serve both at the state and national levels. He also wished the party success in its future activities as he formally ended his membership from October 10, 2025.
With his resignation, political observers in the state are watching to see Ayoola’s next move and the possible effect of his exit on the PDP structure in Oyo State.
